The German Federal Environment Agency warns against the dangers of the plastic bisphenol A (BPA) - for example in baby bottles. A new study confirms that children's healthcould be threatened by the chemical substance.
The report shows that experiments on monkeys have proved that their mental development will be damaged already by very low doses of bisphenol A. Welchen Schaden kann der Kunststoff-Bestandteil Bisphenol A (BPA) - zum Beispiel in Babyfläschchen - anrichten? Diese Frage wird seit Jahren heftig diskutiert, viele Eltern sind besorgt. Das ARD-Magazin report MÜNCHEN berichtete jetzt über eine neue Studie, die durchaus besorgniserregend ist.

Dem Umweltbundesamt liegen demnach Informationen vor, die alarmierend sind. "Das ist die erste Studie an Primaten, die zeigt, dass wir auch bei sehr niedrigen Dosen Wirkungen haben auf die Entwicklung des Gehirns", so Prof. Andreas Gies von der Behörde in einem Beitrag von "report MÜNCHEN". Die Versuche an Affen hätten gezeigt, dass deren geistige Entwicklung schon durch sehr geringe Dosen von Bisphenol A geschädigt werde. Der bestehende EU-Grenzwert von täglich 50 Mikrogramm pro Kilogramm Körpergewicht sei zu hoch, sagte der Wissenschaftler.
