At the Copenhagen Summit in December 2009, world leaders will have to reach a new agreement on the climate. Their decisions will be based on two requisites:
  • setting ambitious objectives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions;
  • adopting relevant measures to fight climate change and to adapt our societies to their consequences by allocating the necessary financial resources.
Despite much contriving from its supporters, nuclear energy has until now been rightly excluded from the means to fight climate change acknowledged by climate agreements. Nonetheless, a number of facts indicate that the nuclear industry, in collaboration with certain countries, is striving to have this dangerous, polluting technology declared "clean" in order to have it included in emission mitigation mechanisms and thereby to be able to take advantage of significant investments, to the detriment of the real solutions!
  • This is why we are hereby inviting you to participate in the "Don’t nuke the climate!" international campaign, coordinated by the French Network for Nuclear Phase-Out.
  • A web petition, translated into a great many languages, is already available to organisations and citizens from countries throughout the world to participate and to help disseminate the campaign. Our goal is to collect tens of thousands of signatures from citizens from countries throughout the world. These signatures collected through the Internet will be printed on individual petition postcards, which will be presented in Copenhagen to decision-makers.
  • Sign the petition: www.dont-nuke-the-climate.org
Some additional things you can do:
  • So as to personify with thousands of human faces the world’s refusal to use nuclear energy as a solution in preventing climate change, we also call on citizens from all over the world to send us their photo by means of the campaign’s website: www.dont-nuke-the-climate.org.
  • Address your elected representatives in your country before the Copenhagen summit to ask them supporting a nuclear-free climate agreement.
  • Participate in the "Don’t nuke the climate!" day, slated to take place on the same date as the World Climate Day, on Saturday, 12 December 2009. Organise special events (street events, film projections, open debates, etc.) in your city or region to express your refusal to consider nuclear energy as a solution to climate change. All of these operations will be promoted on the campaign website: www.dont-nuke-the-climate.org.

We thank you greatly for your support!

  • Ziele zur Verringerung der Treibhausgasemissionen;
