First Indoor UDD Toilet Georgia opened in school for socially vulnerable children by WECF partner RCDA
The first indoor Urine Diverting Dry School in Georgia was opened on 18 December 2009 by WECF partner Rural Community Development Agency (RCDA) in the frame of the ELA project

RCDA trained the pupils, teachers and cleaning staff on correct use and maintenance of the facility. The toilet is a single vault. The school is responsible for proper composting and re-use of the products, with support of RCDA.
At the opening of the ecotoilet representatives of the Department of Education, Department of Health, Local Administration, representatives of Mtskheta-Mtianeti regional administration and local NGOs were present.
This is the first UD school toilet that is build in Georgia, after building more than 230 household toilets. The demand for school toilets is very high, WECF partner organizations are approached by schools from different regions of Georgia requesting support for a school toilet. The Georgian authorities are extremely supportive and the permissions were obtained smoothly.
The construction was financially supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNICEF and was carried out in cooperation with Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF), Every Child Georgia and the Mirza Gelovani Public School 1". The community provided the labour for building the toilet.
