WECF Invited to Give a Presentation at Andante's Summer School in Augsburg
Each year, Andante held a summer school in a different place. The theme of this year’s summer school was ‘We are the inheritors of the Earth – what can we do to live responsibly?’ WECF was asked to give an input on energy.
Andante is a European alliance of catholic women. As a network, it gathers catholic associations from several countries of Europe (France, England, Slovakia, Switzerland, German).
Each year, Andante held a summer school in a different place. This year, Augsburg was chosen and more particularly the Exerzitienhaus St Paulus in Leitershofen. The theme of this year’s summer school was ‘We are the inheritors of the Earth – what can we do to live responsibly?’ Most of the issues that are familiar to WECF were discussed with a special focus of the Christian aspects of the challenges concerning the environment. WECF was asked to give an input on energy. The presentation was focused particularly on energy savings and what the participants can do at their level. The main point was to show that a shift in the energetic resources is needed and that it should be seen as a positive change offering great opportunities (jobs’ creation, reinforcement of the middle class). Everyone can contribute to energy savings in his/her own way. Churches and parishes as playing a role of good example can truly follow a pathway of sustainable practices.
