WECF as part of WMG included in a list of twitter handles for perspectives on women and sustainability
Honouring the WMG as an important twitter news outlet on women for sustainability also includes WECF as one of the current Operating Partners
On International Women's Day, the guardian released a list of important news outlets on twitter on perspectives for women and sustainability. With the Women Major Group (WMG) mentioned, WECF is also included in the list.
The WMG was created as one of nine Major Groups after the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio de Janeiro. The Operating Partners (OPs) that coordinate the group rotate periodically. The current WMG OPs are WECF and Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN) supported by a core group including the Women's Environment and Development Organization(WEDO) and Global Forest Coalition (GFC).
Sascha Gabizon is WECF's UN level representative, and was also leading in the discussions on integrating women's rights and equality into the SDGs and post2015. Besides that, she also spoke out at the consultation on water and helped WECF moderating a CSW side-event, further highlighting gender-based discrimination and its connection to unsustainability.
