In August 2013 as part of the EWA programme, WECF in cooperation with Soil for Life and Urban Harvest conducted a one week training on gender and organic agriculture in Cape Town for all South African partners as well as for the Ugandan Partner ATU.

Participants were making body sculptures on how they feel (see above) and organizational body sculptures showing gender relations inside their organisation  The discussion reflected on what the sculpture was saying about the internal dynamics of the organization, very exciting!

The overall goal of the WECF Empower Women – Benefit for All (EWA) programme is to contribute to economic and political empowerment of women from low-income rural and peri-urban regions in six countries – Afghanistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, Tajikistan, and Uganda and how women can access different resources in order to create their own livelihood.

To empower the staff of the partner organsiations the one week training focused on on gender and on organic farming. Involved people from four EWA partner organizations got to know each other much better and are able to use their experience of this training in their every day work with the target communities.
