EWA: WECF partner Mehr Shavkat celebrates International Women's Day in Kyrgyzstan
WECF partner Mehr Shakat rewards women in their communities with performances, treats and contests
March 8th is International Women’s Day. Fundraisers and parties are organised all over the world to raise awareness for women’s rights and recognize those who are working hard for gender equality.
Women celebrating International Women's Day in Kyrgyzstan
For example, in Kyrgyzstan, women from local organisations are invited to a party funded by Public Fund “Mehr Shavkat”. Their efforts to improve local community life are rewarded with good food, competitions, raffles, dancing and presents. Last year, 220-250 women activists attended this event. They were extremely grateful for the distraction from their daily work and the chance to relax and forget their problems.
This year Public Fund “Mehr Shavkat” is organising another celebration for women in Kyrgyzstan who work to better their communities. They are planning performances, treats, contests, and presents to rewards these women for their efforts.
