"Water is life. But proper sanitation is dignity"
Ecological sanitation as an opportunity for rural areas of Albania
As reliable piped water supplies are hardly non-existent in rural areas of Albania, inhabitants of Shokdra waited with anticipation on the first ecosan toilet which was being implemented in the summer of 2016.
Ecological sanitation is an opportunity for these rural areas. The district of Shkodra for instance faces a lot of challenges in terms of infrastructure especially regarding the availability of safe drinking water and sustainable sanitation.
“We very much welcome the project as indeed water is life and sanitation is dignity, this is very important in the distant and widespread rural settlement within the Shkoder region”, Filip Vila states, the director of the department of social services at Shkodra municipality.
