This publication of the World Health Organization's (WHO) describes the present state of knowledge regarding the impact of excreta and greywater use in agriculture on the health of product consumers, workers and their families and local communities. Health hazards are identified for each group at risk, and appropriate health protection measures to mitigate the risks are discussed. Guidelines are provide on the safe reuse of human excreta in the agriculture.
The guidelines can be considered as a base for national and international regulation for the treatment and safe reuse of human urine and faeces, and as a tool to promote and implement sustainable sanitation such as source separating systems (urine diverting toilets) in developed and in developing countries.
The director General of the World Health Organisation has granted translation rights for an edition in Romanian to the Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF), which is solely responsible for the translated edition.
